Recently, the customs has updated the system and added two declaration elements "GTIN" and "CAS". When declaring customs, please be sure to provide these two elements at the same time. If you do not have them, please declare "no GTIN" and "no CAS".
What do GTIN and CAS mean? How to fill in?
1. GTIN is a barcode, that is, "Global Trade Item Number".
GTIN is used as a globally unique code for identifying commodity items, and is the most widely used identification code in the coding system.
GTIN has four different code structures: GTIN-14, GTIN-13 (formerly known as EAN-13), GTIN-12 (formerly known as UPC-12) and GTIN-8 (formerly known as EAN-8), each identification code Must be used as a whole. The complete identification code can guarantee global uniqueness within the relevant application field.
GTIN-14——Identification code for non-retail goods
GTIN-13, GTIN-12, GTIN-8 - retail product identification code
2. CAS is the chemical code, which is the "registration code of chemical substances".
CAS is the unique digital identification number of a certain substance (compound, polymer material, biological sequence (Biological sequences), mixture or alloy).
The CAS number is divided into three parts with a hyphen "-". The first part has 2 to 7 digits, the second part has 2 digits, and the third part has 1 digit as a check code.
Its abbreviation CAS has become a synonym for the unique identification code of substances in biochemistry, which is equivalent to each chemical substance having its own "student number".
Today's chemical databases can generally be searched by CAS number.
At present, if these two codes are optional when importing and exporting, the customs clearance may be faster. If it is not involved, you can leave it blank, and it will not affect customs clearance.
Why is customs clearance faster?
This time, the barcode or chemical code is filled in, and the automatic comparison of the declaration system will be faster next time.
"GTIN" and "CAS" are optional items. Filling in the report will help the customs to quickly identify the declared content, confirm risks, and speed up customs clearance. At present, according to the relevant work arrangements of the General Administration of Customs, the commodity barcode system will start trial operation in enterprises and imported goods selected by Nanjing Customs from August 2. Other enterprises do not need to fill in these two codes when importing and exporting.
